In season

A recent little experiment in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Always trying to loosen up a bit with less  lines. For me this is hard, I will either start out with a full line drawing or outline every color I put down instead of just letting color and form take over the piece. Will play with this more.

Speak your thoughts

Haven't really done much artwork lately, hopefully I will have a mindset soon that allows me to
get back into it. In the meantime, here is one that is a few years old.
Done on the Sketchbook phone App.

Mr. Asbestos

A redundant logo on an old store door. A great place to shop if you would like to browse various types of fire and flames! I had fun doing this one and am thinking of doing more to create a series of old unrelevant logos on distressed backgrounds.

Digital vs. Traditional

This is a couple of pieces that started out as a digital study or concept for a piece that I wanted to paint and the final painting. I like different things about each of them as well as viewing them together. Same mindset, different mediums.

What to do, What to do, What to do...

Another little digital experiment with styles. Need to mess around more with watercolors both traditionally and the style digitally. I tend to use a lot of flat bright colors but i do love the softness and sometimes the spontaneous with watercolors.

All we have is now

Made this one from an old photo of a Post-It note sketch I did a few years back. Photoshop.

Strange times

We are living in some very surreal strange times right now with the Coronavirus, stay at home orders, wearing masks and gloves, cleaning everything off all the time, the government giving us back money; it starts to become overwhelming. The weird thing is that it has been going on now for so long that these little rituals are starting to become the daily norm.

I think we are all going to see at some point this was all about so much more than a virus...

Until then, enjoy a sausage at the beach!

Sketch Dump

A couple of recent sketches that I did on my phone...Samsung Galaxy 5 note with built in stylus and S note app. kinda cool to mess around with. My style changes a bit depending on which medium i'm using, so I always like to play with different things.

Thinking of spring

Spring so far here in Michigan has been really crazy, tee shirt weather one day, snowing the next.
Looking forward to a normal springtime warm up with tree leaves and flowers budding!

5" x 7" ink, watercolor, pen, onion skin on cold press illustration board.

All we have is now

Been seeing this phrase or thought alot online, and it kinda struck a cord with me. The idea of what matters most in life is in the present moment, the past is gone and all worry of the future is in vain and kills your present moment.

I want to do a series of my own just using photos I take with my phone camera or artwork I have done. I like the idea of keeping them a little haunting or grungy almost as a ethereal snapshot of that actual moment I took the picture. "At that moment, I was in peace".

This is also good Photoshop practice while in quarantine...

A shot at my local grocery store parking lot.

Soda pop

A play and study on breaking up space and dimension. I like to play with the idea that you cannot just glance at the piece, you must move around it and study each little area before pulling back and forming a judgement of what you think it's about.

If it's even about anything...

Color Eater

The flowers are in pain...

Digital paint over a found clipart pattern from the web. Experimenting with the same color palette over itself and framed with the black.
